The old rules of masculinity don’t seem to fit anymore, and the new ones are unclear. Many of us weren’t given the tools to manage our minds and emotions. Anger, fear, sadness, shame, and other “problematic” thoughts and feelings cause us to act in ways that we know don’t align with who we want to be, but we feel stuck and powerless to change our behaviors. Outside of ourselves, there’s a lot of noise about what a “good man” is and who we should be. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by your own mind and all the “shoulds” imposed on men by our loved ones and society.
